Where are The Villages?
You’ve heard of it. The Villages, Florida’s friendliest hometown. Did you know though, how well placed The Villages are as a destination vacation resort? On top of all the activities inside this active adult community, a short drive in any direction will take you to a plethora of other Florida vacation destinations.
Just an hour’s drive to the West is the town of Crystal River, Florida. If you like wildlife, and water, you are in for a treat. Visitors come from all over the world in the cooler months to see the manatees. Over 75% of the US population of them reside in Crystal River in the winter. The warm water of the springs brings them in each year. You can stand on the sidewalks of the bridges and watch their underwater parades. Or you can take one of many boat tours and snorkling tours to get up close and personal.
To the east just over an hour are the beaches of the Altantic. Daytona Beach, Ormond, New Smyrna. To the northeast you can even visit old town St Augustine. There’s so much to do and see, you might want to make this one an overnight trip.
To the south, Disney, Seaworld, Universal Studios, Legoland, and the list goes on for world class attractions. Over to the southeast, you can also take a great carribean cruise out of Port Canaveral. To the Southwest you can vistit the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa.

And in just about any direction, there are fantastic outlet malls. Just had to mention it. (Sorry, guys)

The Villages, Florida – There’s no place like it for a great vacation!
If you haven’t visited The Villages area, you have missed a really special treat. We call it adult Disney World, and that description doesn’t do it justice, although there are similarities. One similarity is the landscaping. Even though it doesn’t have shrubs cut to look like Disney characters, the landscaping is always very lush and tightly trimmed with lots of annuals for color. The activities are endless, both for residents and visitors. Live music and dancing each evening on all 3 town squares always add to the atmosphere and mood of one of the best retirement communities in Florida. Shopping all around The Villages for anything you can imagine. Then there is golf, golf and more golf. There will be 37 golf courses in The Villages when it is built out. Build-out is expected by the Developer in about 2 ½ years
There are over 60 restaurants to choose from, all within golf cart driving distance from the homes. Heated swimming pools are found around every corner, and clubhouses with work out rooms and clubs and activities galore. The movie theaters restaurants and shopping is so abundant that people come from all around the Villages area to enjoy. Many say that when they retire to The Villages, their schedules are busier with activities than when they had full time jobs. One of the favorite pastimes is simply people watching. Just find a spot near any one of the three town squares on a nice sunny afternoon, and enjoy!
The architecture of each town center is very beautiful and has many authentic details. Just driving your golf cart (or a rented one) down to the closest town square for dinner or a stroll is something unique to this very special Central Florida 55+ community.
